Plain-English summary: you install Booking Slot on your Shopify store, pay through Shopify if you choose a paid plan, and use it to take bookings from your customers. You own your data and are responsible for your bookings and customers. We keep the app running and keep slots from being double booked, but we cannot be liable for lost trade if something goes wrong. The full terms follow.

1. Who we are

Booking Slot is a product of DadLink Technologies Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16161444, with its registered office in Handforth, Cheshire, United Kingdom. In these terms "we", "us" and "our" mean DadLink Technologies Limited trading as Booking Slot. "You" means the merchant who installs the app or the person using this website.

These product terms sit under, and take precedence over, the umbrella terms published by DadLink Technologies Limited at dadlinktechnologies.co.uk/terms. Where these terms are silent, the umbrella terms apply.

2. The service

Booking Slot is a Shopify app that lets you sell appointments, classes and other time-based services through your Shopify store and Shopify POS. It adds a date, time and staff picker to products you link to a service, holds slots during checkout, confirms bookings when the order is paid, releases them when an order is cancelled or refunded, and sends confirmations and reminders by email and SMS.

The app depends on Shopify. We do not control Shopify's platform, checkout, payment processing, theme system or POS, and features can change when Shopify changes. Booking Slot is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Shopify Inc.

We describe what the app does and does not do on the scope section of our home page. Features listed as coming soon or on the roadmap are not part of the service until they are released.

3. Your Shopify store and account

  • You must have a Shopify store in good standing and the authority to install apps on it.
  • You are responsible for everyone who accesses the app through your Shopify admin or POS, including staff.
  • You must keep your own Shopify account secure. We never ask for your Shopify password.
  • You must be at least 18 and using the app for a business or trade, not as a consumer.

4. Plans, trials and billing

Current plans and prices are shown on our pricing section and inside the app under Plan and billing. Prices are in pounds sterling and exclude VAT unless stated otherwise.

Billing through Shopify

All charges are made through the Shopify Billing API and appear on your Shopify invoice. We do not take card details and we do not bill you directly. Shopify's own payment terms apply to how and when they collect payment from you.

Free plan

The Free plan is free for as long as you stay within its limits (currently one resource and 20 bookings a month) and displays a small "Powered by Booking Slot" line in the picker. We may change Free plan limits with 30 days' notice in the app.

Trials

Paid plans include a 14-day free trial on first subscription. If you cancel before the trial ends you are not charged. One trial per store.

Subscriptions

Paid plans renew every 30 days (or annually if you choose annual billing, which is discounted by 20 percent) until you cancel. You can change or cancel your plan at any time from Plan and billing inside the app or by uninstalling. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period and you must be within the lower plan's limits for it to apply. No refunds are given for part-used periods except where the law requires it.

Usage limits

When your store reaches a plan limit (for example the monthly booking cap on Free, or the number of resources), the app stops the limited action and tells you why. Existing bookings are never cancelled or hidden because of a plan limit.

5. SMS and email messages

  • Each paid plan includes a monthly SMS allowance that resets at the start of each billing period. Unused allowance does not carry over.
  • SMS top-ups are one-time purchases billed through Shopify. Top-up credits do not expire while the app is installed and are used only after the monthly allowance is exhausted.
  • SMS is sent to UK mobile numbers. International delivery may not be available or may consume more than one credit per message.
  • Messages are transactional: confirmations, reminders, reschedule and cancellation notices. You must not use the app to send marketing.
  • You are responsible for having a lawful basis to contact your customers by SMS and email, which for transactional booking messages is normally the booking itself.
  • We cannot guarantee delivery times or delivery at all, which depend on mobile networks and the customer's device.

6. Bookings, payments and customers

You are the seller. Booking Slot is a tool you use to take and manage bookings; it is not a party to any contract between you and your customer.

  • Payment for bookings is taken through your Shopify checkout or POS under your own Shopify payment arrangements. We do not hold customer funds.
  • Your cancellation, deposit, no-show and refund policies are yours to set and publish to your customers. The app enforces the time cutoffs you configure but does not decide refunds.
  • A slot is held for the hold period you set while a customer completes checkout. A hold is not a booking. A booking is confirmed only when Shopify reports the order as paid.
  • You must keep service durations, buffers, working hours and time off accurate. The app can only prevent double bookings against the data you give it.
  • You are responsible for honouring bookings the app confirms.

7. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • use the app for anything unlawful, or to sell services that are unlawful in the UK or in your customer's country;
  • send unsolicited messages, or messages unrelated to a booking, through the app;
  • attempt to access other merchants' data, probe or overload our systems, or bypass plan limits;
  • copy, resell, sublicense or reverse engineer the app;
  • upload content that infringes someone else's rights or is abusive.

We may suspend or restrict access if we reasonably believe these rules are being broken, and will tell you why unless the law prevents it.

8. Your data

You own the data you and your customers put into the app: services, staff, resources, bookings and the customer details attached to them. We process that data on your behalf as described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms and includes our data processing commitments.

  • We store data in Google Cloud data centres in London (europe-west2) unless we tell you otherwise.
  • Uninstalling the app does not delete your data immediately. We keep it for 48 hours so a reinstall picks up where you left off, then delete it when Shopify sends the shop redaction request.
  • You can export your bookings from the app at any time while it is installed.
  • We use your data to provide, support and improve the service and for nothing else. We do not sell it or use customer details for our own marketing.

9. Availability and support

We aim to keep the app available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Planned maintenance is announced in the app where practical. We monitor the service and fix faults as quickly as we reasonably can.

Support is by email at support@booking-slot.com and through the Help page in the app. Pro plan customers receive priority handling. We aim to respond within one working day.

Because the storefront picker and POS both call our servers to check availability, if our service is unavailable customers cannot make new bookings during that time. Existing bookings are unaffected and no slot is ever double booked as a result of an outage.

10. Intellectual property

We own the app, the website, our name and logo, and all associated code and design. You receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on your Shopify store while you have it installed. You keep all rights in your own content and data. If you give us feedback we may use it without obligation to you.

11. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Subject to that, we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of bookings, loss of customers or goodwill, or any indirect or consequential loss, however caused. Our total liability to you for everything arising in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in that period, or £100 if you are on the Free plan.

The app is provided as it is and as it is available. In particular we are not responsible for Shopify outages, theme conflicts caused by third-party code, mobile network delivery failures, or inaccurate availability caused by settings you have entered.

You will indemnify us against claims from your customers or third parties arising from your services, your bookings, your messages or your breach of these terms.

12. Ending the agreement

You can end this agreement at any time by uninstalling the app from your Shopify store. Any subscription ends with the current billing period. We can end it on 30 days' notice, or immediately if you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms or if Shopify removes the app from its platform. Sections 8, 10, 11 and 14 survive termination.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For material changes we will give at least 30 days' notice inside the app or by email to the store owner address held by Shopify. Continuing to use the app after that date means you accept the new terms. If you do not, uninstall before the change takes effect.

14. Law and contact

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
