An Appointo alternative built around correctness and POS
Appointo is a mature, Calendly-style booking app with a customer portal, calendar integrations and multi-day bookings. Booking Slot is narrower and newer: appointments, classes and staff bookings, with POS and SMS on a flat mid-tier price and no correctness features gated by plan.

Two different ideas about what a booking app is
Appointo is built around the meeting-scheduling model that Calendly popularised, adapted for Shopify. A customer portal where people manage their own appointments, calendar integrations in both directions, a broad set of booking types including multi-day, and a long list of things it connects to. It is mature, well reviewed, and if breadth is what you need it is a strong choice.
Booking Slot is a narrower product with a different starting point. It was built after reading one-star reviews of the apps already on the App Store, and the recurring complaints in those reviews, slots sold twice, buffers ignored, holidays not respected, the widget vanishing at a plan limit, became the specification.
So the comparison is not really feature count. It is whether your problem is coverage or correctness.
Breadth is worth paying for when you need it. It is worth nothing when the thing you need is the chair not being sold twice.
Where Booking Slot is genuinely narrower
Worth being clear about this before anything else, because if one of these is on your must-have list the rest of the page does not matter.
Booking Slot does appointments, group classes and staff bookings. It does not do multi-day bookings, subscriptions, waitlists, intake questions on the picker, multi-location, or automatic video link generation. Outlook sync is not in the product; Google Calendar is, on Growth. Several of these are on the roadmap, which is a different thing from being available.
Appointo covers more of that ground today. If you need a customer account area, Outlook, or multi-day bookings, it is the better app for you and you should take it.
- No multi-day bookings; a booking is one interval
- No waitlists, intake questions or multi-location yet
- Google Calendar on Growth; no Outlook sync
- No automatic Zoom or Meet links; add yours to the template
The counter, which is the clearest difference
If your business has a till as well as a website, this is the part worth reading twice.
Booking Slot's POS screen is not a separate system that syncs. It calls the same availability endpoint and creates the same hold as the product page, in the same second, with no reconciliation step between them. Your front desk physically cannot take a slot the website is mid-checkout on, because there is one source of truth rather than two that agree most of the time.
Several bookings go through one POS transaction, which matters for the parent booking three children or the couple booking two treatments. And if the connection drops, the till shows an error rather than completing a sale on cached data.
Booking at the counter is included from Growth at thirty-nine ninety-nine a month, alongside group classes and Google Calendar. It is not a separate charge. Check Appointo's current listing for how their POS support is tiered, as App Store pricing changes.
Staff scheduling on every plan
The second real difference is where staff rules sit in the plan structure.
In Booking Slot, per-person hours, split shifts, time off, service assignment and automatic any-available allocation are on every plan including the free one. What the plans limit is how many resources you can have: one on Free, two on Starter, eight on Growth, unlimited on Pro.
That is deliberate. Conflict checking, buffers and respecting a holiday are not features, they are the definition of the app working. Charging extra for them means selling something broken and asking for money to un-break it. Volume and headcount are fair to charge for; correctness is not.
The practical effect is that a two-chair shop on fourteen ninety-nine a month gets exactly the same scheduling engine as a twenty-person clinic on seventy-nine ninety-nine.
Migrating, and which to choose
If you do switch, do it gradually. Install Booking Slot alongside Appointo, link one quiet product to it, take a test booking through checkout and watch it land in the Calendar. Then move products across one at a time, leaving Appointo installed until its last forward booking has passed. The two only collide if you link the same product in both.
Import of historic bookings is on the roadmap rather than available, which is the honest reason for the overlap period. Email support if you want help with the product linking.
Choose Appointo if you need multi-day bookings, Outlook, a customer portal, or its integration list. Choose Booking Slot if you have a counter, a team on different hours, and want the scheduling rules to hold on whatever plan you are on.
