Paid consultations booked from your Shopify product page

Consultants, fitters, nutritionists and designers sell a conversation. Booking Slot turns a Shopify product into a bookable session, sends the reminder, and lets the client move it themselves so you are not fielding emails.

The problems this solves

  • Back-and-forth emails to find a time
  • Free consultations booked by people who never turn up
  • Clients wanting a specific consultant
  • Managing a diary in one tool and payments in another

How Booking Slot handles it

Paid at booking

Payment through Shopify checkout confirms the slot. No more chasing.

Self-service rescheduling

Clients move their own session from the confirmation link, within your cutoff.

Named consultants

Offer a choice of consultant or any available.

Free to start

One consultant and 20 bookings a month on the Free plan.

Choose the consult preset during setup and these defaults are filled in for you.

The hours nobody bills for

A consultant's calendar problem is not complexity, it is volume of small admin. Someone emails asking if Tuesday works. Tuesday does not. You suggest Wednesday or Thursday. They come back on Friday having chosen Wednesday, by which point Wednesday has gone.

Four emails and two days for one appointment, repeated across every enquiry. None of it is billable and all of it happens while you are trying to do the actual work.

A product page with a picker on it collapses that to one step. The client sees the times you are genuinely free, picks one, pays, and the slot is confirmed. The first time you hear about it is a booking in your calendar with the money already in.

The back-and-forth is not a scheduling problem. It is unpaid admin happening in the middle of paid work.

Payment at booking, and what it filters out

Taking payment through Shopify checkout at the moment of booking changes who turns up, and it is the single biggest difference between a consultation diary that works and one full of gaps.

A paid consultation is a commitment. Someone who has paid eighty pounds for an hour either attends or gives you notice, and notice is a slot you can refill. A free, unpaid booking carries no cost to abandon, which is why free discovery calls have the no-show rates they do.

If you do want to offer a free first call, set the product price to zero and switch on approval, so each request arrives as something you accept or decline from the Calendar rather than a confirmed slot. That is worth doing: a free booking with no payment step and no verification attracts bot spam, and approval is the filter. If you would rather have the commitment, a small booking fee credited against the work does the same job more reliably.

Payment runs through your normal Shopify checkout, so it uses whatever methods you already accept and lands in your usual payout. There is no second payment provider and no invoicing round.

Self-service rescheduling, which is the feature clients notice

Every confirmation and reminder carries a link to that booking. The client opens it and moves or cancels themselves, within whatever cutoff you set.

This is the part that removes the rest of the admin. A client whose Tuesday has fallen apart does not email you and wait; they move it to Thursday at ten at night and you find out when you look at your diary. The slot they vacated goes back into availability immediately, while there is still time for someone else to take it.

The cutoff is yours. Twenty-four hours is common for an hour-long session, forty-eight if you prepare materials beforehand. Beyond the cutoff the link stops offering changes and they have to contact you, which is the correct behaviour for a session you have already done work for.

  • Manage link in every confirmation and reminder
  • Clients reschedule or cancel themselves inside your cutoff
  • Released slots return to availability straight away
  • Reminder by SMS and email, timing set by you

Several consultants, and clients with a preference

A practice with more than one adviser has two kinds of client: the ones who want a specific person and the ones who want the earliest appointment.

Each consultant is a resource with their own hours, time off and list of services. A client choosing by name sees only that person's genuinely free times. A client who does not mind takes any available, and the app assigns the first free consultant qualified for that service, which spreads new enquiries rather than loading them all onto whoever appears first.

Services are attached to the people who deliver them, so a consultant who does not handle a particular kind of work is never offered for it.

Video calls, intake questions and what it costs

Two gaps worth knowing before you install. Automatic video link generation is not in the product: no Zoom or Meet link is created per booking. Add your standing meeting room link to the confirmation template and every client gets it, which works but means one room for everyone. Per-booking link generation is on the roadmap.

Intake questions on the picker are also roadmap. To collect anything before the call today, use Shopify cart attributes or a separate form app and reference it in the confirmation.

On price, a solo consultant runs on the Free plan: one resource, twenty bookings a month, every scheduling rule on, with a small powered-by line on the picker. Two consultants is Starter at fourteen ninety-nine, which also removes the branding, adds deposits and fifty reminder texts. Up to eight is Growth at thirty-nine ninety-nine with Google Calendar, which for consultants is the useful one: connect your own calendar and anything in it blocks the website automatically. Pro is seventy-nine ninety-nine. Annual billing takes twenty percent off.

Questions about Shopify consultation booking

Can I run video consultations through it?

Yes, with one caveat worth knowing before you install. Booking Slot does not generate a unique Zoom or Meet link per booking; per-booking link generation is on the roadmap. What you do today is put your standing meeting room link into the confirmation and reminder templates, so every client receives it automatically. That works perfectly well for a solo consultant, because the same room serves everyone, and it is awkward if you have several consultants or back-to-back sessions where one client could wander into another's call.

Can I offer a free discovery call?

Yes. Set the product price to zero and switch on approval, so each request arrives in your Calendar as something you accept or decline rather than a confirmed slot. Approval matters here: a free booking with no payment and no verification step attracts bot spam, and the approval step is the filter. Worth considering the alternative, though. A small booking fee, credited against the work if they go ahead, produces far better attendance than a free call, because someone who has paid something either turns up or gives you notice.

Can I collect information from the client before the call?

Not on the picker itself yet; intake questions are on the roadmap. Two workarounds today. Shopify cart attributes can capture a line or two at checkout, which suits a short brief or a phone number. For anything longer, use a separate form app and link to it from your confirmation template, so the client receives the booking confirmation and the form in the same message. Most consultants find the second approach better anyway, because a long form on a product page costs you bookings.

Can I sell a package of sessions?

You can sell one, but the app will not count down the sessions for you. Create the package as an ordinary Shopify product, take the payment as normal, and then book each session individually as the client uses them. There is no automatic credit tracking, so you are keeping that count yourself. Package and credit redemption is on the roadmap. For a consultant selling a six-session block to a handful of clients that is manageable; at higher volume it is worth weighing before you commit.
