Barber bookings that keep the chair full and the queue short
Barbering is short slots, high volume and walk-ins. Booking Slot handles 15-minute services without rounding them to the half hour, lets you book a walk-in at the till in three taps, and shows your regulars a picker that loads in a second on a phone.
The problems this solves
- Short slots get rounded up, wasting a quarter of the day
- Walk-ins and online bookings fight over the same chair
- Regulars want their barber, not just any barber
- Reminder texts cost extra on most apps
How Booking Slot handles it
Any slot length
Services can be 15, 20, 45 minutes or anything else. Slots are real intervals, not a fixed grid.
Per-barber calendars
Each barber has their own hours, days off and services. A barber who does not do beard work is never offered for it.
Book at the till
Staff add a walk-in from Shopify POS. The slot is held immediately so the website cannot sell it.
Free plan for one chair
A one-barber shop can run on the Free plan with 20 bookings a month, then move to Starter at £14.99.
Choose the salon preset during setup and these defaults are filled in for you.
Why barbering breaks most booking apps
Almost every Shopify booking app was designed around the hour-long appointment booked a week in advance. Barbering is the opposite trade. Fifteen and twenty minute cuts, booked the same morning or not at all, mixed with walk-ins who come through the door while the phone is ringing and the clippers are running.
The damage is quiet. An app that rounds every service up to the nearest half hour turns a twenty minute skin fade into a thirty minute block, and ten minutes vanish. Do that eighteen times a day across two chairs and you have given away three hours of cutting time, which at twenty pounds a cut is more than the app costs for a year.
Booking Slot stores a booking as a start time and an end time, not a position on a grid. A twenty minute fade starting at nine forty finishes at ten, and ten is what the next customer is offered.
- Any service length, not just fifteen, thirty or sixty minutes
- Start times every five, ten or fifteen minutes, set per service
- Buffers only where you want them, for example after a beard trim
- No rounding, no fixed grid, no wasted minutes between cuts

Walk-ins and online bookings on one calendar
The classic disaster is the counter and the website selling the same chair. It happens because a lot of apps treat the till as a separate system that syncs to the website every few minutes, and a few minutes is plenty of time to take the same booking twice.
Booking Slot has no sync step, because there is nothing to sync. The till booking screen calls the same availability endpoint and the same hold endpoint the product page uses. When your barber books a walk-in for quarter past two, the slot is held in the same second and the website simply cannot offer it. If the server cannot be reached the till shows an error rather than guessing, so no booking is ever created against stale information.
You can put several bookings through one till transaction, which matters when a dad comes in with two lads and wants all three done. Booking at the till is on the Growth plan and above, using Shopify POS Lite or POS Pro.

Regulars, and the barber they will wait for
A regular does not want a haircut, they want their haircut, from the man who has been doing it for three years. An app that treats your barbers as interchangeable loses you that customer the first time it books them with someone else.
Each barber in Booking Slot is a separate resource with their own hours, their own days off and their own list of services. A barber who does not do beard work is never offered for it. A barber who works Tuesday to Saturday never shows a Monday. And a regular who picks Danny sees only the times Danny is actually free.
Customers who do not mind can leave it on any available, and the app assigns the first free barber who can do that service. New customers tend to take that option, which spreads the load rather than piling everything onto whoever is listed first.
Reminders, cancellations and the Saturday gap
A text the day before is the cheapest thing you can do about no-shows, and it is bundled rather than sold as an extra. Starter includes fifty a month, Growth two hundred and fifty, Pro a thousand, with top-ups at four ninety-nine per hundred if a busy month runs you short.
Every message carries a short link to the booking. A customer who cannot make it taps it and moves or cancels themselves, up to whatever cutoff you set, which frees the slot while there is still time to fill it. That is the real gain. A reminder that only reminds still leaves you with an empty chair; a reminder that lets them reschedule gives the slot back.
Cancellations and refunds flow the normal way. Refund the order in Shopify and the slot is released automatically. Move a booking from the Calendar and the original order stays exactly as it was, so you are not refunding and re-charging a regular just to shift him an hour.
What it costs a barber shop
One chair runs free: one barber, twenty bookings a month, every scheduling rule included and a small powered-by line on the picker. Two chairs is fourteen ninety-nine a month with unlimited bookings, the branding removed and fifty texts. Three to eight chairs is thirty-nine ninety-nine, which adds booking at the till and Google Calendar for each barber. Above eight, seventy-nine ninety-nine. Annual billing takes twenty percent off.
What it will not do yet: recurring weekly bookings for the regular who comes in every other Thursday, and waitlists. Both are on the roadmap. Everything else a two or three chair shop needs on a Saturday morning is in the product today.
Questions about Shopify booking app for barbers
Can customers book without paying online?
Yes, with approval switched on. The customer picks a slot and it arrives as a pending request rather than a confirmed booking, and you accept or decline it from the Calendar. Leaving it off means payment at checkout confirms the booking, which is the safer default because an unverified free booking attracts bot spam.
Can I block out lunch?
Yes, as recurring time off on each barber's record, so it repeats every working day without you entering it again. It blocks that barber only, so if one takes lunch at twelve and another at one, both are handled and the shop keeps taking bookings throughout. The same mechanism covers anything else that comes out of the day: a half-day for a hospital appointment, a week off, a training day. On the Growth plan a barber can also connect their own Google Calendar, and anything in it removes that time from the website automatically.
Does this replace my shop's own website?
No, it runs inside your Shopify store rather than being a site of its own. The picker is a block on your existing product pages, so customers book without leaving your shop and you have one site to maintain rather than two. If you do not have a website at all, Shopify's basic plan plus Booking Slot's free tier is one of the cheapest ways to get a barber shop taking online bookings, and it gives you somewhere to sell products alongside the cuts.
How fast does the picker load on a phone?
It is a small theme app extension block that loads availability from our servers in London, and it renders in well under a second on 4G. That matters more in barbering than most trades, because a lot of your bookings happen on a phone, same morning, by someone deciding where to get a cut. A picker that takes five seconds to show times loses that customer to whoever loads faster. Availability is calculated fresh on each request rather than read from a cache, so what they see is genuinely current.
